Depending upon the installation, there are two main types of projectors: ceiling mount and table top projectors. Both of these projectors have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The advantage of the ceiling mount projector is that it makes the room look neat and tidy. There are no loose wires visible as the projector is fixed on the ceiling wall. Being mounted on a ceiling, these overhead projectors are out of reach of children making it hard to meddle with.

On the other hand, mounting a projector on the ceiling would require drilling and making holes on the walls. The cable wires have to be carefully dropped into the wall. That apart, determining a fixed distance between a projector and the screen is also a tedious job. Setting up of a table top projector is much easier than a ceiling top projector.

Installing a table top projector is far easy as one just has to decide a place as to where the projector has to be kept. This portable projector can be shifted as and when required.
